Leadership Skills

Treasurer and Fundraising Co-Chair PHOGS

From the beginning of the MPH program, I have participated in the Public Health Organization of Graduate Students (PHOGS) on various committees for a variety of events and activities. As a Treasurer and Fundraising Co-Chair, I organized events with the purpose of getting cohort students and alumni together as a community and raise funds at the same time. Most of our fundraising activities were very successful. Some of the events I participated in and coordinated include:

  • MPH Career Symposium
  • MPH Cross cohort Annual Event
  • Warrior's Game
  • Giants Game
  • Patxi's Chicago Pizza Fundraiser and many others.

Civic Engagement

Participated at the 2010 Save Public Education rally at Civic Center Plaza, San Francisco, CA.

Rally participation

Marching down Dolores Street in San Francisco,

I hear music in the background

I hear drums

I see people dancing

I see some running around

Carrying signs, shouting aloud

Hundreds of people surround me

I am pumped up with energy

I feel part of a big community

I believe I can make a difference

Children, youth and adults,

All together under the unison

Of a common song:

Yes, we can!

Together we stand!

Chop from the top!

Show me the money!
